Jeremy Paul Egerton Hobbins v Clearwater International Ltd & Royal Skandia Life Assurance Ltd

HK Court of First Instance, 6-Jan-2012

Mr Hobbins, an experienced company director, fails in his claim that because the amount of commissions his broker was paid by the insurer were not disclosed, the insurance contracts were illegal. Our view: he should have insisted on the disclosure before signing the contracts, and in any case, disclosure of commissions should be mandatory.
